Robert was Master of Michaelhouse in 1328 and then Master of Peterhouse (the oldest Cambridge college) before becoming Chancellor of Cambridge University (England's second oldest university) in 1334. Michaelhouse and King's Hall were later to form Trinity College in 1546. [Sources: Memorials of Cambridge by Charles Henry Cooper & University of Cambridge, Vice-Chancellor's Office.]
Later Robert entered service for King Edward III. At various times, he was the King's Clerk, the Receiver of the Money of the King's Chamber and the King's Keeper of the Jewels, Exchanges and Other Things in the Tower of London. Before his death, he was knighted by the King and so became Sir Robert. [Source: www.british-history.ac.uk.]
